Editorial Standards

Accuracy

Every factual claim must be verifiable. We cite sources, link to primary documents, and correct errors promptly when they occur.

Independence

We maintain editorial independence from political parties, corporate interests, and advocacy groups. Our analysis follows the evidence, not predetermined narratives.

Transparency

We distinguish clearly between:

• News: Factual reporting with minimal interpretation
• Analysis: Context and explanation based on evidence
• Opinion: Clearly labeled commentary and argument

Corrections

When we make mistakes, we correct them prominently. Corrections are dated and noted at the top of articles. We don't quietly edit without acknowledgment.

What We Publish

News & Analysis

Australian politics, economics, policy debates, and international affairs that affect Australia.

Opinion

Argued positions on matters of public interest. Opinion pieces are labeled as such and represent the author's views.

Financial

Market analysis, economic trends, and financial news relevant to Australian readers. Not financial advice.

Contributing to OZ News Net

We're Looking For

• Original analysis backed by evidence
• Clear, direct writing without jargon
• Willingness to engage with counterarguments
• Subject matter expertise or extensive research

Pitch Process

1. Email contribute@oznewsnet.com
2. Include:
   • Proposed topic and angle
   • Why you're qualified to write it
   • Three writing samples (links or attachments)
3. We respond within 7 days

What We Pay

Payment rates depend on piece length, complexity, and author experience. First-time contributors typically write on spec; regular contributors are compensated.

Editing Process

All pieces go through substantive editing for clarity, accuracy, and flow. We'll work with you on revisions. Final editorial decisions rest with OZ News Net.

What We Don't Publish

• Unsubstantiated claims or conspiracy theories
• Personal attacks or ad hominem arguments
• Content primarily promoting a product, service, or organization
• Plagiarized or AI-generated content
• Pieces that don't add new analysis or perspective
